Where it
all Started

Frank was raised in a Union family. His father retired as a member of IBEW 46 (sic) starting in 1941 went on to be an electrician with Boeing during WWII, worked at a union silver mine in Holden, WA until the Korean War. At this time, he worked at the Bremerton Shipyard and later with Todd Shipyards in Seattle until he retired in 1969.

The union support he received during post-war downturns and several recessions made a strong impression during Frank’s formative years. He realized how most members and their families benefit from the strong support of their unions.

Frank also got to interact with Unions on a regular basis at The City and this constant presence nudged him to start a company serving these Unions; The Frank Doolittle Company.

In the Words of Frank

What do you think is the core value of the Frank Doolittle Company?

It’s simple. Be a dependable and honest supporter of the unions and their work.

What makes our merchandise stand out?

It’s two things. The quality of our products and the design. We are not the cheapest in the market, but you can’t beat the thought and effort we put behind every piece of merchandise that goes out.
Our in-house designers are skilled at not only coming up with extraordinary designs but also understanding the taste and requirement of union members.

Do you think the Union landscape will change with technology taking over jobs?

Technology can never completely takeover the jobs of essential workers. When I started 30% of the workers were unionized and today, in corporate America probably only 10% are unionized. But, I don’t see this number going down in the future because of AI or robots.
But, I feel if we resist technological advancements, we’ll become ancient in a minute. I see the future is tech and it’s better to use it to our advantage.
